Name: M. Marble
As the title suggests, this is a chronicle of my changing times. I currently live Arlington, Virginia and I go to graduate school at ESIA at GWU. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Haskovo, Bulgaria. Now I'm what's called a RPCV. I see this as an open diary of where I was, where I am and of course where I hope to go. It's a record of the daily trials, tribulations, successes and distractions of my journey. I hope you enjoy it. Welcome to a slice of my world.
I'm also obliged to say that this is not an official Peace Corps website and the views and information presented here are my own and do not represent official Peace Corps views.

I usually don't just post to share pictures, but today I went to to the coast of the Black Sea and back with a BG family from Haskovo and took this picture (amounst others) and couldn't wait to share it. The weather these past few weeks has been wonderful here in BG - temperatures in the 60's & 70's. This means a lot of outdoor time for your friendly neighborhood PC blogger. As you can see, flowering trees are in bloom as well as grass is that oh so pretty shade of spring green. I visited Nesesbur, Burgas and Sozopol today, all places I traveled to last summer. It's weird being back in them with different people and during the off season. It was definately a different perspective. (Pictured above: One of the best pictures I've taken in a while. Notice the flowers on this tree in Sozopol)
One thing was being able to get a great table at a resturant overlooking the sea in Nesebur. The food wasn't anything to write home about, but the view was. Luckily for us, that particular resturant opened up just today for the first time this year. Between the cool sea breeze and the sunny warm 70 degree temperatures, I can say I had my first taste of summer. Now I just can't wait for the real thing to get here. (Pictured: Also from Sozopol, the glorious sunset)
As I've typed this, I've decided to include two other pictures just for the heck of it. They're just too good not to share. I have to thank all the TARfly folks once again for giving me such a wonderful digital camera which allows me to both take these wonderful shots as well as share them so quickly. You guys have no idea how much I appreciate the gift.
This upcoming week is spring break for my school. Whilst I still have my non-teaching activities, this week should be fairly low key. I do have to run to Sofia to get an MRI done on my knee. I fell a few weeks ago in Shumen (a sizable city in northern BG) on some snow and banged it up well enough to have cracked my kneecap (or so the X-rays taken last week show). The MRI will be a followup visit. I decided not to travel to Istanbul or other such places this week due in part to the fact that my parents will be coming over for a visit in late May and we'll be travelling to Italy for two weeks. I'll need all the vacation time PC can give me then, so it makes sense to save up now. I'm geographically as close to Istanbul as I am to Sofia, so I'm sure I'll get there eventually. (Pictured: Ancient church ruins in Nesebur)
Hopefully I'll get a catchup post or two up this week since I'll have a bit of free time. Here's to goals, right?
