So I heard a news story this morning on the way to work on a Senate staffer on Capital Hill who's blog has become quite the scandal. Aparently she's been having sex with just about everyone (including those in her office) and decided to put it in her very public blog. Of course it's been taken down now - but here is an archive I actually don't find it all that scandalous. It makes me realize that there are people out there living much more active lives, but nothing that I didn't already assume was going on...
One does have to wonder, though who would put their private life out on the internet that much if they weren't looking for the attention. She's supposedly shocked that it's received the attention it has - that there's much worse going on all the time up on the Hill. Well I'm sure there is worse going on constantly - but they have the discretion not to publically talk about it.
One thing I do love about blogs are the glimpse into other people's lives - as much as they're willing to share. I felt awkward earlier this year talking about the potential think with Jen that never happened. Of course my life looks to be much more boring than some of these people. I stay fairly busy - but I guess I've just never been the type to go out and party/club every night. Maybe I'm missing out - who knows. I know there are times that I've been acutely aware that I'm sitting around doing nothing when there's a lot going on out in the world - be it in Charlotte, NY or London or whereever.
But on the flip side I look at my life and realize I've got a lot going on as well. Just over the next month - for example - I've got plans to go to movies w/ a friend, go to Baltimore to see the Giants play the Orioles with some guys from work, go whitewater rafting with the guys from my bible study, play poker with the guys from my Fantasy Football league, and then head out for my vacation out west with James. And that doesn't include my trips to Ohio and NY later this summer. Just, as always, I'm missing a woman to go out with... Just not my time right now.
Back to the story, a couple of blogs have posted an interesting take on this - this was a news story of a blog perpetuated by blogs. Honestly most of the info I found on it was at www.calicocat.com and www.wonkette.com.
Gotta get back to work now... Damnit.
